Offered by the David A. Tepper School of Business, our Business Administration program has earned worldwide recognition for its approach to the study of business management as a science.
A Proud History
Founded more than 50 years ago by the Nobel Prize-winning Carnegie Mellon professor Herb Simon, the Tepper curriculum trains students in all the functional areas of business, including accounting, finance, economics, marketing, operations, management information systems, and business communications.
A Global Perspective
The Tepper curriculum is globally oriented, with emphasis on quantitative decision making and an analytical approach to problem solving. Problem-solving skills are developed in a series of mathematics classes including calculus, statistics, and forecasting.
A Prestigious Degree
Upon completion of the major requirements, our graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University. This is exactly the same Business Administration degree that is earned by students at our flagship campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.
A Degree with Worldwide Influence
In the United States, our undergraduate program in Business Administration has been ranked a Top Ten business program by U.S. News & World Report for several consecutive years.
Pioneers in Management Science
We pioneered the integration of management science with the Business Administration curriculum. Today, nearly every leading business school includes some form of Carnegie Mellon’s management science model in their curriculum. But we introduced it first, and our approach is still the gold standard.
Helping You Rise to the Top
Around the globe, our graduates can be found at the highest levels of the world’s most respected institutions of finance, banking, technology, manufacturing and service.
Careers in Many Important Industries
The Degree
As a business student, you will be enrolled in Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School of Business which consistently ranks as one of the top 10 business schools in the United States. Upon completion of our four-year program, you will be granted a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree in business administration.
The Objective
The business faculty members, highly regarded in their respective industries, bring the results of innovative research into the classroom by teaching students to approach management issues analytically. Through this approach, students gain a powerful leadership advantage in the business worlds of today and tomorrow.
The Methodology
The business program explores the fundamental scientific processes underlying management decisions as well as the areas in which managers function. Students receive a solid foundation that will allow them to pursue the corporate world or post-graduate studies.
Students gain hands-on experience through a fast-paced, competitive course called the Management Game. Fourth-year business students play the role of top management as they run simulated businesses competing in an international economy. Students learn to integrate managerial concepts and techniques while reporting to a "Board of Directors." Many graduates report that this was one of the most valuable learning experiences they had at Carnegie Mellon to prepare them for the business world.
