Work for SCPP 2012

What is the Summer College Preview Program?

The Summer College Preview Program is an intensive three-week summer program for high school students.  It aims to give students a "preview" of the college experience, and to help them prepare academically for application to selective universities.  More information on the program is available here.

What is a Peer Tutor/Counselor (PTC)?

PTCs work closely with the professors to deliver course content in three major areas:

  • English/Writing (at the 10th and 11th grade levels)
  • Mathematics (at the Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus levels)
  • Project courses (in Business Administration, Computer Science, and Information Systems)

Equally importantly, PTCs serve as mentors and role models to the students enrolled in SCPP.  This year, for the first time, the PTC team will be in charge of organizing and running two Saturday afternoon team-building events for the students.

PTCs' duties will run from July 15 to August 5; applicants must be available full-time during this entire period.

  • deepen your own familiarity with a subject area you like
  • work closely with professors in delivering a course
  • improve your communication and teaching skills
  • earn the highest pay rate on campus (QR 30-45)
